Instruction: Classes & Workshops
All of Doug's classes are designed for beginners, but still challenging enough for experienced artists. Most workshops are available in one, two and three-day formats. Classes/Workshops Available:
Color Mixing Workshop: In this workshop we will discuss how we see color, all about pigments, principles of color mixing and how to match virtually any color with a limited palette, correct shadows, aerial perspective, and much more. Color mixing will be demystified.
"Create a Classic”: In this four-hour workshop Doug will walk you step by step through a process that will yield you a beautiful, classical chiaroscuro painting to take home, even if you’ve never painted before. the drawing is already on the canvas and all materials are provided.
Oil Layering Class: This oil painting class demonstrates how the layering of several transparent layers of color can yield a painting with intense luminosity and great depth.
Basic Drawing Class: In this class you’ll learn about drawing materials like pencils, papers, erasers, shading and blending tools, as well as techniques for producing realistic drawings.
Oil Painting Class: In this class you’ll learn about color mixing, materials, composition, painting techniques, blending and edges and much more.
